Plenty of Painful Seasons
FORT COLLINS — Owners of the most losses in school history (24), the longest losing streak (17), and their first winless record in Mountain West Conference play, Colorado State's players and coaches filed out quietly and grim-faced after their season finale at Moby Arena on Saturday afternoon.
New Mexico dismantled the Rams, 71-52, an almost respectable loss compared to the 40-point beatdown in Albuquerque earlier this season.
"This wasn't what I had in mind when I talked about making history here," first-year coach Tim Miles said.
The scene was emblematic of the state of Division I college basketball on the Front Range, though CSU's mediocrity was historic in nature.
